The United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Vermont is reviewing its local rules. See the announcement below, received today at the VBA from the Hon. Heather Z. Cooper, about how you can review the proposed rules and share your comments. Note that these are due by Nov. 3, 2023.
Good afternoon,
In the Spring of 2023, we began the process of reviewing our local rules to question and streamline processes, ensure compliance with the Federal Rules, the Code and recent case law, and (hopefully) to inspire a new generation of bankruptcy practitioners.
Directly below is a link to the Court’s website and the Proposed 2024 Local Rules that are the result of that effort after collaborating with Court stakeholders to set policy and establish local procedures that facilitate the just, speedy, and inexpensive administration of every case and proceeding under the Bankruptcy Code in the District of Vermont. You will also find a redlined version that compares the 2021 Local Rules to the Proposed 2024 Local Rules.

These Proposed Local Rules are being circulated to the Vermont Bar Association and the Bankruptcy Section members for public comment. Please provide any comments to the proposed changes by Friday, November 3, 2023 to Lisa_Clifford@vtb.uscourts.gov. It is the goal to have the finalized local rules approved by the District Court to become effective January 1, 2024.
