Legal Member Categories
A Legal Member is a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the State of Vermont.
A Retired Legal Member is a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the State of Vermont who has reached the age of 65 and has retired, except for pro bono representation. (An attorney who has been a VBA member for 40 years and is 75 years of age or older is considered an Emeritus Member, and no longer needs to pay dues to be entitled to VBA member benefits.)
Associate Member Categories
Law Office Study Associate Member is a registrant in the Vermont Supreme Court’s Law Office Study Program, who has completed at least one year of study.
A Law Student Associate Member is enrolled in an accredited law school in the United States.
A Law School Graduate Associate Member is a graduate of an accredited law school who intends to take or retake the Vermont administration of the Uniform Bar Examination within one year of applying for Associate membership or renewal thereof.
A Paralegal Associate Member is a paralegal certified by a Vermont attorney, according to the standards adopted by the Board of Managers (see VBA Constitution) or is a voting member, in good standing, with the Vermont Paralegal Organization (the VPO).
A Legal Administrator Associate Member is a law office administrator or law office staff person of a Legal Member of the Vermont Bar Association.
An “Interest in the Law” Associate Member is any other person who has an interest in the law and whose membership the Board of Managers determines to be in the interest of the Association.
A “Licensed Outside Vermont” Associate Member is an attorney licensed to practice in another state or jurisdiction, but is not licensed to practice law in Vermont.
A Law Professor Associate Member is a full or part-time law professor at an accredited law school in the State of Vermont not admitted to practice law in the State of Vermont.
