After a lengthy nationwide search, the Vermont Bar Association is pleased to announce that it has re-hired Robert M. Paolini, Esq. to serve as its Executive Director.
Waterbury resident Paolini practiced law in the Montpelier-Barre area and served two terms in the Vermont House before he became Executive Director of the VBA, for the first time, in February 1996. He served in that role for 20 years, retiring in June 2016. After leaving the VBA, he maintained a legislative presence with his own lobbying and consulting business. Last spring, after previous Executive Director, Therese Corsones, announced her departure for the Court Administrator position, Paolini stepped in as interim Executive Director while the Board of Managers conducted a search for a new leader.
“When I took on the interim role it was with no thought of staying permanently,” Paolini said. “However, getting back into the role reminded me of how much I enjoy this work, and how much I like working with the VBA Board and the VBA staff. It brought me back into contact with our members and made me excited to be the voice of the Bar again.”
Andrew Manitsky, VBA President and head of the search committee, said: “We are thrilled. From the beginning, we hoped that Bob might be willing to step back into the role permanently. We had some wonderful applicants, but Bob’s experience, skills, leadership, and judgment make him uniquely qualified to serve once again as Executive Director of the VBA. We are so happy to welcome him back home.”
