Hundreds gathered on August 7 to “Celebrate the Life of Peter W. Hall” at the Paramount Theater in Rutland. Speakers shared many heartfelt, humorous and fascinating memories of “Pete, Dad, Judge and Grandpa”, as Judge Hall was referred to on the program. Speakers included Senator Patrick Leahy (represented by State Director John Tracy given Senator Leahy’s absence due to a Saturday Senate session in Washington), Governor Jim Douglas, Chief Justice Paul Reiber, Lt. Governor Molly Gray (a former law clerk of Judge Hall’s), Jerry O’Neill, Judge Hall’s sisters Maro, Susan and Margaret, Judge Hall’s children Samuel, Susan and Elizabeth, Second Circuit Judge Barrington Parker, Jr. and Judge Hall’s wife, Dr. Maria Dunton. The event was livestreamed by the Second Circuit, and a recording of the event is linked HERE. It was a wonderful tribute to a man whose legacy in the bar, on the bench and in his community will be long remembered. Judge Hall’s law clerks have established the Peter W. Hall Memorial Scholarship Fund, to honor Judge Hall’s memory. For more information about the scholarship, please click HERE .
