Duties
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis to gather relevant case law, statutes, and legal precedents across multiple practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, family law, securities law, and more.
- Assist attorneys with drafting legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, discovery requests, and correspondence with precision and clarity.
- Manage legal case files and document review processes utilizing document management systems like Clio and other electronic filing platforms to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Support project management efforts by organizing case schedules, tracking deadlines, and coordinating meetings or interviews with clients and witnesses.
- Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, proofreading, transcription, and maintaining organized records for easy retrieval.
- Conduct client interviews and gather pertinent information to assist in case preparation while adhering to confidentiality standards.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of various practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, family law, securities law, workers’ compensation law, personal injury law, landlord-tenant law, and litigation procedures.
- Proficiency with legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.
- Strong project management skills to coordinate multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines efficiently.
- Excellent writing skills for drafting clear legal documents; keen proofreading abilities to ensure accuracy in all materials.
- Demonstrated experience in legal administrative tasks including data entry, filing systems, document review, transcription services, and clerical support within a law office setting.
- Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional phone etiquette to interact confidently with clients and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of legal research techniques and ability to synthesize complex information into understandable summaries.
