The Deputy City Attorney, partners closely with the City Attorney to provide trusted legal guidance to key organizational leaders across a wide range of municipal law, while also representing the City in both civil and criminal litigation.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: As the Deputy City Attorney, you will:

Conduct thorough and accurate legal and policy research and analysis, developing legal opinions and provide general policy advice to City staff Council, and official City boards and commissions, as requested.

Negotiate and prepare documents for real estate transactions and provide legal advice relating to development activities involving the city.
- Draft and/or review legal documents (including agreements and contracts), ordinances, and other rules and regulations as required.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- J.D. from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
- Admitted and licensed to practice law in the State of Vermont.
- Admitted to practice before and in good standing with the Vermont Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court or if not yet admitted, eligible for admission.
- A minimum of five years’ experience with preference in the practice of municipal law.
SALARY RANGE: $93,017.60 – $123,011.20, annually
