The Vermont Supreme Court and the Vermont Bar Association are pleased to host a Constitution Day presentation, featuring a panel including the Vermont Supreme Court Chief Justice, Superior Court Trial Judges, and a Constitutional Law Professor. The presentation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 5 – 6 pm at the Chase Center at Vermont Law and Graduate School in South Royalton. The panel will provide an informative overview of the United States Constitution with a focus on landmark cases decided over the decades.
Constitution Day is an annual celebration to mark the day in 1787 when the delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the U.S. Constitution in Philadelphia. In Vermont, the occasion has been marked for a decade by a gathering of legal experts, students, and the public at VLGS to talk about major issues facing our democracy.
Confirmed speakers for this year’s event include Vermont Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul Reiber, Superior Court Judges Timothy Tomasi, Daniel Richardson, and Bonnie Badgewick and VLGS Professor Peter Teachout. The moderator will be Jordana Levine, Esq., incoming president of the Vermont Bar Association. She’s also an adjunct faculty member at VLGS.
The event will also be livestreamed at vermontlaw.edu/live. If you can go in person, however, you will get a pocket constitution. The event is free and open to the public.
