United States District Court Judge Replacement Notice – Seeking attorneys interested in being on the Commission to review applicants

US District Court Judge Geoffrey Crawford has announced his intention to transition into senior status. Accordingly, Vermont’s senior Senator, Bernie Sanders, in conjunction with Senator Welch, is forming a selection committee to assist with screening applicants for the position on the court. The Senators have invited the Vermont Bar Association to be involved with the process.

The VBA Board has tasked its Executive Committee with collecting and reviewing letters of interest from qualified attorneys and forwarding names to Senator Sanders. If you are interested in being considered as a member of the selection committee through the VBA, please submit a letter of interest along with your reasons for applying, geographic and substantive areas of practice, and your experience in the federal court system to Bob Paolini at [email protected] no later than the close of business on Wednesday October 11, 2023. The committee will review all letters of interest, submit its recommendations to the full VBA Board to make the selections and forward names to the Senator on Friday October 13, 2023.
