The Vermont Advisory Committee on the Rules of Evidence is responsible for reviewing the operation and effectiveness of the evidence rules, receiving proposals to change rules or adopt new rules, making proposals to change rules or adopt new rules and sending these proposals to the Supreme Court, sending proposed rules to the bar and public for comment and, when required, holding public hearings on proposed rules or rule changes, and receiving comments. The Advisory Committee consists of thirteen voting members, including two Superior Court Judges, the chair of the corresponding VBA standing committee, and ten attorneys, with consideration given to representation in each of the following practice areas: civil, criminal prosecution, civil defense, probate, mental-health, family domestic, and juvenile.
At present, the Advisory Committee is looking for two new attorney members with experience in civil litigation and criminal prosecution, though other practice-area experience may be considered, as well.
If you are interested in being considered, please provide the Committee with a letter of interest containing at least the following information:
* Number of years practicing law in the State of Vermont;
* A description of your professional experience with reference to your subject-matter expertise and practice areas, with specific emphasis upon any experience with the practice areas described above;
* A quantitative and qualitative description of your litigation experience, including motions, hearings, trials, and other contested matters involving the presentation of evidence, as well as estimates of the number of evidentiary hearings you have participated in and in what role(s);
* If not otherwise described above, a description of why you have sufficient experience to serve as a member of the Advisory Committee.

Please use a subject line of “Membership: Vermont Advisory Committee on the Rules of Evidence” and please title the PDF with your name only.
