Court Administrator Patricia Gabel issued a Memo to the Bar on June 30 linked HERE, referencing an emergency order linked HERE amending Section 2 of AO 41. The amendment extends the deadline for renewing licenses from July 1 to August 17, 2021. “For those attorneys required to renew their license for the 2021-2023 reporting period, the deadline for renewal in Section 2 is extended to August 17, 2021.” Although the amendment references the 2021–2023 reporting period, Attorney Licensing has confirmed that the extension applies to those attorneys who are reporting for the 2019-2021 period (and renewing their licenses for the next 2021-2023 reporting period.)
The Reporter’s Notes indicate that the amendment was being done “to accommodate attorneys who may be having technical issues completing the renewal through the recently implemented online attorney portal”. VBA Board President Elizabeth Kruska had sent a letter to the Court on May 31, alerting the Court to issues that attorneys had encountered attempting to utilize the new attorney portal when it first went live on May 17. A copy of President Kruska’s letter is HERE.
