Sheehey Furlong & Behm, an established, growing law firm located near the Burlington waterfront, is accepting applications for a Title Search/Real Estate Professional. This unique position is for either an attorney or paralegal with demonstrated Vermont real estate experience to provide assistance and support in a busy medium-sized firm with a variety of residential and commercial real estate needs. The position will involve traveling to perform residential and commercial title searches at town clerk’s offices throughout Vermont (mileage reimbursed), preparing reports and opinions on title and drafting property descriptions, working with title insurers and title insurance policies and forms, and researching and analyzing state and municipal permit and compliance issues. The position will also involve drafting conveyance and closing documents, including but not limited to deeds, tax forms, and settlement statements. If the applicant is an attorney, the position may also involve contract negotiation and drafting, conducting closings, and working on other real estate related matters including commercial leasing and permitting.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience related to title searches/real estate, at least a Bachelor’s Degree, and be detail-oriented and organized with strong communication and writing skills. Candidates with a law degree but less experience will be considered, provided they have demonstrated skills and experience in conducting title searches. Salary will be commensurate with experience and education, and will include a generous benefits package.
