The Secretary of State’s Office of Professional Regulation (OPR) is seeking a motivated Staff Attorney II or III: https://humanresources.vermont.gov/sites/humanresources/files/documents/DHR-Attorney_Pay_Plan_FY22.pdf to join as a Prosecuting Attorney in the Enforcement Unit.
In this position you’ll represent the State of Vermont in the evaluation and prosecution of administrative complaints of unprofessional conduct for over 50 diverse professions, from Tattoo Artists, Body Piercers, Cosmetologists, and Barbers to Engineers, Accountants, and Architects to Nurses, Osteopaths, Dentists, Pharmacists, and other health care related professions. As an OPR prosecutor, you will handle a vertical caseload, from the decision to charge through appeal, in a fast-paced work environment with a supportive team of other prosecutors, case managers, a paralegal, and investigators.
This position primarily focuses on litigation with a large and varied caseload.
– attending investigative team meetings;
– working closely with investigators and law enforcement;
– all aspects of litigation, including case evaluation, discovery, motions practice, depositions, trial preparation, and final evidentiary hearings before professional Boards and Administrative Law Officers; and
– appeals at both the administrative and State Supreme Court levels.
This position is a combination of working in the office and remotely.
