Staff Attorney Position Open Immediately

Attorney shall provide comprehensive, victim-centered, trauma informed, accessible legal services to victims of domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
Legal services to be provided include day-of consultation and advice, representation in Relief from Abuse proceedings, and all family law matters such as divorce, parentage, child support, parental rights and responsibilities, parent child contact, enforcement and/or modification hearings.
Attorney may provide representation/advice in other legal areas such as eviction, guardianship, small claims, depositions, and other legal matters if related to domestic violence as required by the scope of the federal grant funding. Will work closely with county victim advocacy groups.
Attorney will ensure meaningful access to legal services to clients with disabilities, trauma, and those with limited English proficiency. Attorney will attend internal and external trainings on the impacts of trauma, sexual assault, and domestic violence.
Attorney will supervise all operations including a full-time paralegal at the Bennington office and will report directly to the HJWT Executive Director. HJWT is committed to providing equal employment opportunity to all qualified individuals.
