Staff Attorney I, II, III
The Office of Professional Regulation, a division of the Secretary of State’s Office, seeks a staff attorney to support the Office’s mission to protect the public from unqualified, incompetent, or unethical practitioners through a system of occupational licensure. This position reports directly to the Office’s General Counsel.
Duties include attending professional-board and advisor-group meetings; handling inquiries from the public, licensees, and professional associations; monitoring regulatory issues in the health sciences and other regulated professions; researching and developing policy; and drafting administrative rules and legislative proposals.
Candidates must be well organized, interested in public policy and regulatory modernization, and highly proficient at legal research and concise written communication to varying audiences. Must be admitted to practice law in Vermont. Two years of relevant attorney experience required. Background in administrative law, science, health care, consumer protection, or economics highly desirable.
Salary based upon qualifications and experience in accordance with the Attorney Pay Plan.
