New Mortgage/Rent Assistance Programs

VHFA is administering a Mortgage Assistance Program funded with $5 million in CARES Act money to help lower income homeowners who have fallen behind on their mortgage and are facing economic hardship brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.  The program will provide up to 3 monthly mortgage payments directly to the mortgage servicer on behalf of the applicant with a goal of preventing (or at least reducing the risk of) future foreclosure.  This program is NOT limited to VHFA borrowers and is available whether or not the borrower is currently in a forbearance or deferral with their mortgage servicer.

VSHA is administering a rental assistance program (the Rental Housing Stabilization Program) for Tenants and Landlords, to provide housing stability for tenants and financial stability for landlords given the COVID-19 pandemic and current eviction stay.  Tenants and landlords can both apply into the program.
