Opening of the Term Events

The Rutland County Bar Association and the Bennington County Bar Association recently held Opening of the Term events, to welcome incoming judicial officers for the new rotation. In Rutland, Rutland Unit Presiding Judge Cort Corsones (Family Division) introduced U.S. District Judge Geoffrey Crawford, and Judges Sam Hoar (Civil Division), Thomas Zonay (Criminal Division), and Kevin Candon (Probate Division) as well as Assistant Judges Jean Coloutti and Dave Lewis to a crowd of over fifty RCBA members at the Rutland County Courthouse. Each judicial officer spoke about expectations for the term, and fielded questions.

In Bennington, the event was held in conjunction with the BCBA Fall Luncheon Meeting at the Mount Anthony Country Club. Bennington Unit Presiding Judge David Howard (Criminal Division) introduced Judges William Cohen (Civil Division), John Valente (Family Division) and Justine Scanlon (Probate Division), as well as new members of the Bennington Court Staff to the forty plus BCBA members in attendance. Each of the judges spoke about expectations for the term, and fielded questions. BCBA President Jim Dingley also presented Attorney Charles Capriola, Jr. with a plaque in recognition for his dedication and service to the people of Bennington County, and to the State of Vermont Judiciary. VBA Executive Director Teri Corsones also addressed both gatherings about VBA news and events.
