Rule of Law Initiative

Initially funded by a grant from the American Bar Association, the Center serves as the state coordinator for the ABA’s Rule of Law Initiative. The Rule of Law Initiative is a public service project dedicated to promoting rule of law around the world. Based on the belief that rule of law promotion is the most effective long-term antidote to the pressing problems facing the world community today, including poverty, economic stagnation, and conflict, the Rule of Law Initiative in Vermont has featured statewide conferences, public education programs, involvement with Vermont schools and teachers, and seminars for lawyers designed to foster increased understanding of the rule of law and its importance. Partners in this Initiative include members of the Vermont and federal judiciaries, business and educational leaders, religious leaders, and many others.
